Coachella Valley Water District sends warning on payment scam

The Coachella Valley Water District has sent out a scam warning to customers.

According to a news release from CVWD, customers should be wary of people misrepresenting themselves as district personnel.

The CVWD notes that a customer recently reported receiving a phone call from a person who said they were with CVWD. The caller requested a payment by phone, but when the caller said they would rather show up to a CVWD office instead, the caller became agitated.

The CVWD wants to remind customers to call 760-391-9600 if you have concerns about whether a person is affiliated with CVWD or whether work is authorized by CVWD. It’s also important to remember that all CVWD personnel carry identification.
