November Coachella Valley Spotlight recipient: Coachella Valley Rescue Mission

The November Spotlight recipient is Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.

This Indio based shelter provides those in need with a safe place to stay and access to health evaluations, nutrition, housing, education, skill training, and counseling. CVRM hopes to work with clients to improve their circumstances so they may become self-sufficient in the community.

The funds from the $25,000 grant from the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation will be used to help with the nonprofit’s emergency overnight services. CVRM is currently at capacity, housing 250 clients each day at the cost of $32 per client per day. The emergency service program provides necessary essentials to those in need, including referral services, job skills training, and assistance in locating affordable housing.

Each year, CVRM serves about 1,500 men, women, and children. Volunteers assist with serving more than 210,000 meals annually. They also distribute over 11,000 food boxes to the community. CVRM provides over 89,000 bed nights of shelter each year.
