Welding fire leaves four displaced in Palm Springs

The fire occurred at a unit on the 400 block of N Sunrise Way.

According to Palm Springs Batallion Chief Smith, a worker was welding some pipes in one of the units when a small fire started in the wall. The small fire then went up the wall.

Smith said four units in total were affected. The units were not destroyed, however, and the four people displaced will be able to return once the damage is fixed.

N. Sunrise was closed northbound at Alejo as crews worked to contain the fire. The roadway was back open at 4:10 p.m. One southbound lane remains closed at this time.
