Coachella Valley rain expected Thursday
A Pacific storm system — currently over Central California — will bring showers, gusty winds and cooler weather to the Southland Thursday. Light showers will begin to show up in, and West of, area mountains late tonight followed by widespread rain tomorrow.
Although the Coachella Valley is expected to see showers, amounts will range from hundredths of an inch on the Southeast end of the Valley to over a half-an-inch on the far West side. Higher totals will fall over the San Gorgonio Pass and High Desert but the obvious concern will be in our mountains where debris flows could be an issue near recent burn scar areas. Flash Flood Watches have been posted.
The snow level will start quite high around 8000-feet but then falling close to 6500-feet by early Friday morning giving the Palm Springs Tramway 3 to 6-inches of cover.
Winds will also be an issue in Southern California with the arrival of this cold front. In fact a Wind Advisory has been posted for the San Gorgonio Pass, Inland Empire and area mountains for Thursday into early Friday morning. Winds will generally be out of the West.

Friday looks relatively quiet, but a bit cool before another cold front swings through the Southwest on Saturday providing scattered showers, gusty winds and cooler temperatures.
