2019 Rhythm, Wine & Brews Festival canceled

The Rhythm, Wine & Brews Experience, which had been scheduled to be held at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio on March 2, was canceled today following the “last-minute” cancellation of the festival’s unnamed headlining act.

Festival organizers took to social media to announce that the festival was being canceled. The musical lineup had been scheduled to be announced soon.

“Due to a last-minute cancellation by our festival headliner, we have no choice than to cancel the 2019 Rhythm, Wine & Brews Experience,” a statement on the festival’s Facebook page reads. “This decision has not been an easy one, however, it has always been the utmost importance that we deliver an excellent experience. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to returning in 2020 bigger and better than before.”

Last year’s festival featured the Stone Temple Pilots, the Psychedelic Furs and She Wants Revenge, with B.B. King, 311, Matisyahu and Snoop Dogg among other previous headliners.

It’s the second cancellation of a large-scale music event that had been slated for the polo grounds. The Desert Oasis Music Festival, which was set to take place in October, was canceled due to venue improvements and construction taking place at the Empire Polo Grounds. A 2018 lineup hadn’t been announced, but last year’s inaugural festival featured a slate of reggae, R&B and hip-hop artists,
including Damian Marley, Los Lobos, Rebelution, E-40, Murs, Warren G, and Reel Big Fish.

At the time, it was believed that the venue construction wouldn’t affect the Rhythm, Wine & Brews Experience and that the festival would proceed as scheduled in March.
