Rain expected Wednesday, Thursday

A low pressure system barreling down the coast is expected to bring rain to Southern California and snow to the mountains.

Locally, we expect light showers to begin Wednesday afternoon, with just drizzle expected for areas in the east valley. Rain becomes more consistent on Thursday with skies clearing in the overnight hours.

We expect to see at the most between 0.25″-0.50″ in the Palm Springs area, with lesser amounts anticipated as you travel east. Snow is also expected in our mountains. Big Bear and the Tram could see between 3-7″ in various spots. Snow levels are expected to drop to 6000 feet in elevation. Idyllwild will likely see just rain with the possibility for flurries.

Winds are not expected to be an issue from this storm system, though expect breezy conditions around the perimeter of the valley.
