Ave 44 at wash in Indio crumbles, remains closed

Avenue 44 at the wash in Indio is closed and will, in all likelihood, remain closed for the near future (at least 1-2 weeks).

This morning, in a post on the Indio Police Department Facebook page, residents and travelers passing through Indio were advised to avoid the area Ave 44 due to the complete deterioration of the roadway.

“The road at Avenue 44 as well as the banks of the wash are fragile and hollow beneath the surface. For your safety, keep your distance!”, read the post. “We are being told that Avenue 44 will be closed for at least 1-2 weeks for repairs, if not longer. Please seek an alternative route.”
