Man killed in a shooting in Cathedral City
A man is dead following a shooting in Cathedral City.
The shooting occurred in the 34100 Block of Vaquero Road, near Dinah Shore, next to the Ocotillo Place Apartments. According to Commander Julio Luna of the Cathedral City Police Department, the shooting was reported at around 7:54 p.m.
Luna said the man, a Cathedral City resident, was found inside a Honda Accord with gunshot wounds in the upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There did not appear to be any other passengers inside the vehicle.
Luna told News Channel 3 this does not appear to be a drive-by and they are still working on determining whether this was gang-related, but did say police are investigating this incident as a homicide.
A news release by CCPD revealed the victim was 23-years-old. This is the second 23-year-old killed in a shooting in Cathedral City this week.
Monday night, in the Dream Homes area of Cathedral City, 23-year-old Daniel Garcia was killed in a shooting. CCPD Commander Paul Herrera said the incident did not appear to be gang-related. No suspect information has been released.
Luna said at this time, police do not believe these two shootings are related. No information has been released on the suspect
Mario Garcia Jimenez, 24, was also killed in a shooting early Monday morning in Desert Hot Springs. A person of interest in this shooting was detained for questioning Wednesday afternoon.

Police investigated a second shooting in Cathedral City, not far from Vaquero Road, at around 11 p.m.. Officers said several cars were struck by bullets on Desert Vista Road, near Ramon Road. At this time, no injuries were reported in that shooting.
