Crews respond to fire at Cathedral Springs condominium complex
A fire broke out in Cathedral City Sunday evening at the Cathedral Springs condominium complex.
Multiple fire engines were on scene after authorities say they received several reports of a structure fire in an eight-unit condominium complex.

The Cathedral City Fire Dept., Palm Springs Fire Dept,. and Cal Fire all worked together and say they had the fire extinguihsed within 40 minutes. Authorities say fire was running through the attic of the complex, and that weekend’s high temperatures created an extra challenge for firefighters on scene.
“With the high temperatures right now, we have to be real careful that we rehydrate and recondition our firefighters before we give them new assignments. A day like today is awful. Most agencies…firefighters go through one or two bottles of air; today we’re up on three and four bottles right now,” said John Muhr, Battalion Chief, Cathedral City Fire Dept.
At least four families are reportedly going to be displaced as a result of the fire and are currently working with the Red Cross. No injuries were reported — with the exception of one minor injury to a firefighter. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Crews say they’ll be on scene continuing mop up efforts for another three hours.
UPDATE: The Red Cross says residents of all eight units in the affected condominium complex will be displaced for the night. They say four of eight units have major damage.
