Free coronavirus testing offered this week at the Palm Springs Convention Center
County and city officials are warning that COVID-19 cases are increasing again countywide. The County says that if the number of cases does not decrease, the state could move Riverside County from the "red tier" of reopening back to the most restrictive "purple tier."
“It’s not easy for anyone to hear that our numbers have started to go backwards," said Brooke Federico, Public Information Officer, County of Riverside.
Officials are encouraging people with or without symptoms to get tested countywide in order to better understand where and how the virus is spreading.
“When we are able to identify cases...we’re able to stop the transmission of those cases," said Federico.
The more people get tested, the likelier it is Riverside County will maintain a positivity rate low enough to maintain its status within the "red tier" of reopening.
The Riverside University Health System is offering free coronavirus testing this week at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
"There is plenty of room here as you know the convention center is a larger space so a very safe, comfortable place to come get tested," said Rob Hampton, General Manager, Palm Springs Convention Center.
