Teachers Inspires Students To Shoot For Moon

So many teachers work hard and dedicate themselves to their students here in the desert. Every month KESQ News Channel 3 honors a teacher making a difference by awarding them with the”Golden Apple” award. The winner for the month of April is Farah Meadows, an English teacher from La Quinta High School.

“This goes down as my best day in education,” said Meadows.

Standing in front of a classroom is a dream come true for Meadows.

“I’m so honored to be here every day,” said Meadows.

She’s wanted to be a teacher ever since she was just 7 years old.

“I remember when I was at Kennedy Elementary School in Mrs.White’s class. I was starring at her thinking that is what I want to do with my life,” said Meadows.

Now, Meadows’ hard work is getting recognized and honored. The cheers from her students brings her to tears.

“I get so emotional because I just love teaching,” said Meadows.

Students say Meadows does a lot more than teach .

“She does inspire you,” said Quentin Garcia, one of Meadows’ students.

“She sets goals for us and makes us want to reach those goals,” said Karen Jaramillo, one of Meadow’s students.

English used to be Jaramillo’s worst subject, but not anymore.

“I came to Mrs. Meadows’ class and now I have an A-plus,” said Jaramillo. “I feel I can do anything now.”

Students said Meadows is a role model – proof that dreams can come true, but she reminds them that it’s not always easy.

“Someone once told me that it would be too hard for me to become a teacher, but that became my fuel,” said Meadows.

Now, Meadows is the fuel for her students, reminding them to shoot for the moon. She said if they ever need a little push, she’ll be there.

“I want my students to know they can do anything and I’ll be their cheerleader along the way,” said Meadows.
