Palm Springs Expected To Accept 911 Grant

The Palm Springs City Council is expected tonight to accept a $270,000 grant from the state to fund an upgrade in the city’s 911 communications system.

The Palm Springs Police Department is in the process of upgrading its existing 911 system, according to a city staff report.

The upgrades, which are expected to cost $206,850, include new equipment, installation costs, software and training, according to the report.

The state determines how much funding each city receives based on its 911 call volume, and the Palm Springs will have one year to use all of the allotted money, the report states.
