Elementary School Catches Fire In La Quinta
Fire hit Ben Franklin Elementary in La Quinta on Saturday.
It started around 4pm, and News Channel 3 got lots of calls into our newsroom from viewers who said they could see flames and smoke.
The fire was out within minutes.
Fire officials say it started in a trash can, and then a park bench caught fire under a covered patio.
The fire set off sprinklers which helped extinguish the flames.
No one was hurt. No damage to any surrounding buildings. Investigators are now trying to figure out how the fire started.
