Gas Prices Fall For July 4th Travel
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire fell three-tenths of a cent today to $3.106, one day after being unchanged for the third time in five days.
The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is four- tenths of a cent more than a week ago, 10.4 cents more than a month ago and 13.8 cents more than this time last year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
“With more than 2.2 million Southern Californians expected to drive to their getaways over this holiday weekend, it’s likely that most of them will pay between $42 and $44 for a typical 14-gallon fill-up,” said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
“That’s just a couple of dollars more than last year at this time and about $20 less than during the 2008 Independence Day holiday,” he said.
