WestJet Adding Service At Palm Springs International

WestJet Airlines is expanding its service at Palm Springs International Airport.

In February it will start offering twice weekly non-stop flights to and from Toronto.

To help WestJet launch the new flights, the Palm Springs City Council approved an incentive agreement with the airline on Wednesday night.

It gives WestJet $100,000 to use on promoting its Toronto flights to the valley.

“This is an important service for the entire region,” said City Manager David Ready. “Keep in mind these dollars are not general fund dollars, these are dollars that come from the enterprise fund of the airport. It sustains itself so that allows us to offer this incentive and because of the incentive we’re gonna have direct service to Toronto.”

The airport fund has a pool of $1 million to use toward encouraging airlines to open up new routes to Palm Springs.

WestJet’s non-stop Toronto flights will run from February to April.
