Carport Collapses In Palm Desert
A carport suddenly collapsed Thursday night on Deep Canyon just south of Highway 111 in Palm Desert.
Emergency personnel received the call at just before 8 p.m. and arrived to find two cars damaged by a partially collapsed structure.
No one was injured from the collapse, but several residents are being kept out of their apartments until the structure can be deemed safe.
Officials believe that the rest of the structure is unstable and could collapse trapping residents in their apartments.
The Red Cross had been called in to take care of the residents until they can go home. The collapse is believed to be caused by a structural issue, according to firefighters.
