No One Inside After 10-Hour Standoff

A man wanted for attempted murder is on the loose after a stand-off that stretched into the late night near Desert Hot Springs.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department tried to serve an arrest warrant at a residence on the 15000 block of Bubbling Wells Road around 2:30 Friday afternoon.

They were looking for Juan Carlos Perez Valenzuela who is wanted for an attempted murder in King City in Monterey County.

The SWAT team tried contacting Valenzuela with a loud speaker several times and deployed a noise making canister to draw him outside before sending in a robot just before 11 o’clock Friday night.

When SWAT team members entered the home, they discovered no one was inside.

Authorities would not release what was spent on resources to conduct the ten hour operation. Investigators would only confirm that the 35-year old Valenzuela was not inside the home.

If you have any information that could help lead to his arrest, call the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
