‘Miracle Baby’ Born at 10:10 on 10/10/10

The date 10/10/10 happens only once in a millenium, and being born at 10:10 a.m. on 10/10/10 is even more rare, but that’s what happened today at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.

Luke William Canfield was delivered naturally at that moment by Amanda Canfield, who told KCAL9 Luke is her “ miracle baby.”

The infant weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and is doing well, according to hospital officials. The time of birth was not the only miracle.

“I’ve had epilepsy for quite a few years and, by the time I was 19 I’d been on over 20 different medications and … it just destroyed all my parts,” Canfield said.

Canfield’s obstetrician, Dr. Sean Kossari, told KCAL9 it wasn’t difficult to hit that magic mark that won’t come around again for a thousand years.

“She came in last night, we sent her walking for a little while to see if she was in labor or not and she was. She got admitted. Even then I still didn’t expect her to deliver this fast, this quickly, this easily.”

Husband Chris told Channel 9 he had one eye on the clock as his son was born. “One minute to go, comes in 10-10 hits, grabs the baby, just like that.”

Amanda Canfield said her dreams for her son include, “number 10 quarterback, right?”
