45th Congressional Race Appears On National Radar
The 45th Congressional District race appeared on the national radar as one to watch.
CNN has been weighing in on the race between Republican incumbent Mary Bono Mack and her Democratic opponent Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet.
In the cable network’s list of the Top 100 most vulnerable races, where there could be a party shift, Bono Mack had been on the list indicating Pougnet was giving her a good fight.
But over the weekend, according to CNN, Bono Mack gained enough momentum to fall out of the Top 100.
“I think once the new information came out we were excited,” said Ryan Mahoney, Bono Mack’s Campaign Manager. “But that doesn’t change the media strategy, doesn’t change the plan. We’re gonna continue to fight everyday and make sure people hear the message and know that on November 2nd the congresswoman is still the best choice.”
At Mayor Steve Pougnet’s campaign headquarters, they’re also aware of the CNN list, but it’s hardly changing the direction of the campaign.
“I think voters can fairly ask ‘Has Mary Bono Mack been getting the job done?’ ‘What has she done for us?’ ‘Is she working for us?,'” said Jordan Marks, Pougnet’s Campaign Manager. “And as voters continue to ask that question this will be competitive up until election day.”
