Teen Shot In Indio Dies At Palm Springs Hospital

The teenager who suffered a gunshot wound to the head in a shooting near Indio High School has died from his injuries, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

Records show he died Thursday night at 7:38 p.m.

The shooting was reported at 2:10 p.m on Thursday on Clinton Street at Granada Street, said Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Department.

The victim’s name has not been released while police investigate.

A 17- to 19-year-old male armed with a handgun was seen getting into an older-model Toyota with two occupants, according to Guitron.

Though the shooting occurred near Indio High School, the campus was not placed on lockdown, according to the Desert Sands Unified School District. Instead, the principal warned students to avoid the crime scene.

The suspect is described as a 17 to 19 year old man possibly last seen wearing black pants and a white shirt.
