Border Patrol Agents Seize 1,000 Pounds Of Marijuana

U.S. Border Patrol agents seized approximately 1,000 pounds of marijuana from a sport utility vehicle that was found abandoned on the U.S./Mexico border, this week.

Agents said the vehicle was spotted 10 miles west of Calexico on Tuesday driving northbound away from the border. Agents approached it, and it quickly turned south and headed toward the border.

When agents caught up to the SUV, they noticed it had been abandoned, and the driver had crossed the border on foot back to Mexico.

Agents searched the vehicle, and found bundles of marijuana carrying a street value of $803,000.

The marijuana and the vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
