Hair Salon To Donate Proceeds To Breast Cancer Research

A Palm Springs hair salon will donate some of the profits earned today to provide mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies to diagnose breast cancer among low-income Coachella Valley residents.

Salon 119’s cut-a-thon is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 119 N. Indian Canyon Drive, said Amy Blaisdell, the city’s spokeswoman.

The salon’s stylists will donate part of their income from the event to the Desert Cancer Foundation’s Suzanne Jackson Breast Cancer Program, Blaisdell said.

Residents can also donate directly to the program in lieu of getting a haircut or new hairstyle by dropping off a check or by purchasing a $2 raffle ticket.

Palm Springs merchants will donate items that will be raffled off during the event, she said.

For more information, Salon 119 can be reached at (760) 327-4800.
