Transient Arrested For Weekend Stabbing In Indio

A transient was behind bars today on suspicion of stabbing a 79-year-old man in Indio.

Eric Green, 28, was arrested about 10:15 p.m. Sunday and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder, according to Indio police Cmdr. Ben Guitron.

Green allegedly stabbed the victim about 3 p.m. Sunday in the 86200 block of Indio Boulevard. Police did not release a motive.

The victim, whose name was withheld, was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of stab wounds to the stomach and neck area, Guitron said, adding that the man was listed in stable condition.

Green was being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Indio Jail.
