Masked Gunman Who Tried To Rob Banning Convenience Store On the Loose

A man whose convenience store robbery attempt was foiled by a clerk, who managed to wrest away his firearm, remained at large today.

The attempted robbery was reported at 2:20 p.m. Sunday at the am/pm store at 2228 W. Ramsey St., according to Ginger Perry of the Banning Police Department.

The masked gunman entered the store and demanded money from two clerks. While one of the employees was gathering money, the other grabbed the gun out of the suspect’s hands, Perry said.

The would-be robber fled from the store and jumped into the passenger side of a vehicle which was last seen entering westbound Interstate 10, she said.

The suspect was described as white, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with blue eyes.
