Indio Gunshot Victim Identified, Suspect Jailed

A suspect in Friday’s shooting death in an Indio apartment awaited his arraignment on Monday morning as the Riverside County Coroner’s Office released the name of the victim.

Jesus Luis Guerrero, 20, of Indio, was shot and killed at 11:30 p.m. on Friday along the 82100 block of Avenue 50. . Jesse Sanchez, 27, of Indio, was arrested Saturday at his parent’s home in the 82-100 block of Bliss Street, questioned, then booked on suspicion of homicide. He could be arraigned as early as Monday.

Police had kept the name of the victim private; it was unclear why.

A spokesperson said a tip led to Sanchez’s arrest on Sunday. Sanchez also had some unspecified warrants, police said.
