Burglar Found Hiding In Indio Kmart Store

A burglary suspect was finding hiding inside a closed Kmart store in Indio early today, the Indio Police Department reported.

Christopher Rush, 35, of Indio, allegedly triggered the store’s silent alarm system while trying to nab jewelry and electronics, Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron said.

Rush allegedly waited until the store closed and all employees left before trying to rob the Kmart at 81691 Highway 111. The alarm was triggered at 10:42 p.m. Wednesday, and he was found hiding inside the store by officers and a dog search team about 12:20 a.m., Guitron said.

The suspect, who was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail, is due in court Feb. 15.
