Golf Channel Signs Deal To Cover Kraft Nabisco Championships
The Golf Channel will provide live national coverage of the Kraft Nabisco Championship at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, under an agreement announced today by the tournament’s organizers.
The first LPGA Major of the year, the Kraft Nabisco Championship will be televised across the country via the cable network during all four days, amounting to 20 hours of live programming.
“By moving to the Golf Channel, the Kraft Nabisco Championship will be working with a television partner that’s committed to the game of golf and, in particular, women’s golf and the LPGA,” said tournament Chairman David Blake- Thomas.
“This year’s Kraft Nabisco will receive twice as much coverage during tournament week as it has in the past,” he said.
The first two rounds of the tournament, which takes place March 31 to April 3, will be televised on the Golf Channel from 9 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. PST. On Saturday and Sunday, broadcasts will air live from 1:30-5:30 p.m.
The Golf Channel reaches more than 83 million homes in the United States, tournament spokeswoman Donna Hahn said, and this year’s broadcast will be seen by an estimated 200 million viewers across the globe through the cable network and via international distribution.
The Kraft Nabisco Championship is celebrating its 40th anniversary this season.
Many of the past champions are expected to take part in festivities commemorating the tournament’s four decades. Included in that group is Yani Tseng, who won the tournament last year and will compete again this year.
