La Quinta High School Students Allowed Back To Class After Evacuation

Students at La Quinta High School were allowed back to class after bring evacuated for about an hour on Tuesday morning.

Riverside County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Herlinda Valenzuela said the campus was evacuated at 9:30 a.m. as a precaution, while deputies looked into claims a student a bomb-making materials inside a backpack on school grounds.

Investigators were questioning the student.

Students had been ordered out of the school and walked to a “safe distance” on the school field while authorities looked at the backpack.

It was deemed safe, and students were let back into their classes at 10:45 a.m.

Investigators said they found flame retardant gloves inside the backpack, which were not against school policy.
