Car Theft Suspect Nabbed By Palm Springs Police

Palm Springs police arrested a man in connection with a car theft on Wednesday night.

Spokeswoman Rhona Long said officers were dispatched to burglary on the 2100 block of Sandra Road. The theft of the home happened sometime over a seven hour time period, according to the victim, and his car was stolen, as well.

While the report was being taken, officers spotted the car parked on a nearby street. The stolen vehicle began moving a short time later, and officers conducted a felony traffic stop.

Joe Acosta, 39, was the driver and sole occupant of the car, said Long.

Acosta was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, vehicle theft with a prior conviction, and for a violation of his parole.

He was transported to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and is being held on the above mentioned charges and for a no-bail parole hold.

The vehicle and several other items were returned to the victim.
