Man Charged With Raping Woman At Stagecoach Music Festival

Indio police arrested a parking attendant for the Stagecoach Music Festival after a woman claimed she was raped by him while waiting for her friends at her car.

Officers responded to reports of a sexual assault at one of the overflow parking lots on Saturday at about 9:50 p.m., where they found a 23-year-old woman being helped by other festival-goers who said they saw her struggling with the attendant.

Police spokesman Ben Guitron said the woman had attended the concert with friends and decided to go back to her car in the parking lot. The parking attendant offered his help finding her car.

When they found it, the attendant sexually assaulted her outside the car, Guitron said. He ran off when other people in the parking lot noticed she needed help.

Based on her police interview, police were able to locate the suspect, Darin Ledale Garrett, 46, of Los Angeles, at the Palm Tree Inn on the 84100 block of Indio Blvd. the next morning.

He was booked at the Indio jail.
