Suspect In Dog’s Shooting Surrenders At Rancho Mirage Motel

A man wanted for shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend’s dog on her kitchen floor surrendered to police at a motel in Rancho Mirage on Thursday morning.

Police had been searching for Raymond Espinoza, 35, a parolee at large, since Monday when the shooting happened in a neighborhood just south of Dinah Shore near the Cathedral City border.

Officers responded to the call along the 1900 block of Marguerite around 4:30 p.m. where they found a pit bull had been shot dead on the kitchen floor.

The woman at the home told police her ex-boyfriend, Espinoza, had shot the dog and left.

Police considered Espinoza armed and dangerous, and urged the public not to approach him.

Shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to the Motel 6 on the 69500 block of Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage, near Frank Sinatra, where Espinoza was surrendered to police.
