Brush Fire Scorches 3 Acres Near Beaumont

A brush fire broke out today just north or Beaumont, quickly blackening around three acres but not immediately threatening any homes or other structures.

The blaze was reported shortly after 10 a.m. at Highland Springs and Brookside avenues, less than a quarter mile from the Highland Springs Country Club, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

A half-dozen engine crews and a water tender crew were trying to encircle the fire.

A fire department official said there were light winds in the area.

There was no immediate word on what triggered the blaze.
