Palm Desert Aquatics Center Ready To Make A Big Splash

Palm Desert residents will soon have a cool place to spend the summer.

The Palm Desert Aquatics Center is set to open on Saturday, June 25, and it has many people in the Coachella Valley excited.

“We’re excited to have this facility,” said Karen Creasey, Aquatics Center Manager. “We’re excited to have the pool. We’re excited to offer something like this to Palm Desert residents and larger Coachella Valley. It’s a good thing.”

Crews broke ground on the facility in October and are working hard to finish in time for the summer season.

“We’re very excited,” said Ron Ristaino, a Palm Desert parent. “A brand new park will give us something else to do. A water park with water slides, we’re quite fired up at the thought of having somewhere else to go during the summer.”

The facility will be home to three brand new pools, each offering something unique. The center includes an Olympic-size pool with competition diving boards, a splash pool for the little ones, and a pool connected to two massive water slides.

The Aquatics Center also gives the YMCA plenty of opportunities for new activities. “We have water polo options for the younger kids, even into the older teenagers,” said Creasey. “We have master swim, we will have lap swim times open. We’ve got lots of good things planned.”

The facility will also include a snack bar, and multi-purpose room for rent. “It’s nice that you can actually not have to bring lunch,” said Beatrice Eslamboly. “You can buy it right there and spend the whole day there and not have to run out to feed the kids.”
