Wildfire Burns 3 Mobile Homes, Injures 3 In Anza

Riverside County fire crews are battling a wildfire and high temperatures near the town of Anza in the San Jacinto mountains.

The fire was first reported shortly before 1 p.m. near the intersection of Wellman and Terwilliger Roads, said Riverside County fire spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

By 4 p.m., the fire had spread to 25 acres.

Three mobile homes were destroyed by the fire, which also injured three people, according to CalFire crews on the scene. The extent of their injuries was not known.

California Highway Patrol officers were helping to close down Terwilliger Road to traffic to allow room for 15 fire trucks and 75 firefighters.

Firefighters were contending with 93-degree temperatures and winds out of the west at about 15 miles-per-hour, according to Hagemann.
