Randy Caballero Earns First Career Title Belt

Coachella Valley’s own Randy Caballero can now add a title belt to his list of accomplishments. The young boxing phenom earned a hard-fought victory over Alexis Santiago in front of a sold-out crowd at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

The co-main event on Oscar De La Hoya’s Goldenboy promotions fight card, the pair of unbeatens went the distance, a full eight rounds, then left it to the judges. Caballero earned a unanimous victory with scores of 80-72, 80-72, and 79-73. With the win, he was crowned the WBC youth intercontinental super bantamweight champion.

Following the fight, Caballero dedicated the fight to Nicaraguan boxing legend Alexis Arguello. Arguello passed away exactly two years to the day that Caballero earned his title.
