Desert Wake Mecca Set To Make Waves

Many desert residents will travel to the coast or Lake Havasu this summer to get closer to the water. But, there’s a water sports oasis right here in the desert.

Desert Wake is a new facility in Mecca that offers an opportunity to jet ski, wake board and get out on the water. “A 163 acre oasis if you will, where we’re going to have multiple lakes, that’s really just a quick drive for anyone in the valley,” said managing partner Brian Grantham. “It’s just amazing. It’s kind of like the perfect storm for us, to have this location, with the access to these lakes and be able to offer it to the community.”

The facility also offers a full experience for those in the community. It includes a ranch house which can hold up to 30 people. The three year plan also includes the construction of more lakes, a driving range and a skate park. “A 163 acre oasis if you will where we’re going to have multiple lakes, that’s really just a quick drive for anyone in the valley,” said Grantham. “It’s just amazing. It’s kind of like the perfect storm for us, to have this location, with the access to these lakes and be able to offer it to the community.”

Once the facility receives Riverside County approval, Desert Wake Mecca promises facilities unlike any other on the west coast. “We’re going to be putting in the first full-size cable park, in the Western U.S.,” said Grantham. “The next closest is in Texas. These systems actually can have seven to nine wakeboarders on the lake at any given time, without a boat. It’s simply amazing. It turns it more into an amusement park feature if you will, where you can facilitate a lot of people getting a lot of water time for really an inexpensive ticket price.”

The prices are reasonable in an effort to attract not only wealthy vacationers but also locals. “You can basically come out and get a private lake for a rate of $99 per hour, and that rate actually includes the lake, the boat, the driver, the fuel, and all the gear that you’ll need,” said Grantham. “You really just bring your sunscreen and your swim suit, we provide all the rest.”
