More Overnight Closures Planned Along Interstate 10
A major overpass in Palm Springs and parts of Interstate 10 will be closed overnight in increments, beginning Wednesday, officials said.
Palm Drive and Gene Autry Trail will be closed for about a week as part of an interchange project being managed by the Coachella Valley Corridor Projects Task Force, which includes the county, the Coachella Valley Association of Governments, desert cities and Caltrans.
Traffic will be routed off the freeway ahead of closed sections and back onto I-10 at Palm and Gene Autry drives.
Here’s a rundown of the schedule:
– Wednesday: Westbound lanes will close near Palm Drive about 8 p.m. and reopen about 4 a.m. the next morning.
– Thursday: Eastbound lanes near Palm Drive will close about 9 p.m. and reopen about 5 a.m. Friday.
– Sunday: Westbound lanes near the interchange will close about 8 p.m. and reopen about 4 a.m. Monday.
– Monday: Eastbound lanes will close near the interchange about 9 p.m. and reopen about 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Construction crews will add up to two overnight shifts, overnight Friday/Saturday and overnight Tuesday/Wednesday, if necessary.
