Flood Advisory For Riverside County
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for parts of south-central Riverside County on Tuesday afternoon.
At 3:30 p.m., radar indicated isolated thunderstorms developing in the Santa Rosa mountains.
While one storm is not producing enough rainfall to produce flooding, meteorologists think the accumulation from several storms in the same area could produce significant runoff.
“Rainfall over the mountains can can flow down into the Coachella Valley,” the NWS advisory said. “Potentially, (it could) affect areas, such as La Quinta.”
Wash areas in La Quinta, Bermuda Dunes, Indian Wells, Indio, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage could see some flooding even though the cities didn’t see much rain.
Law enforcement officials remind drivers not to drive through a wash area that has water over the roadway.
