Rock Spill Creates Mess In Thousand Palms

Gravel spilled all over the roadway on Thousand Palms Canyon Road on Tuesday, creating a mess for drivers trying to get through the area.

The spill happened after 1 p.m. about one mile north of Ramon Road in Thousand Palms.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck carrying the gravel blew a tire, which caused the dump mechanism to activate, spilling the rocks all over the roadway.

CHP officers escorted some of the traffic around the scene to allow for the clean-up.

No one was injured.
