Lower Gas Prices Driving Consumers to the Pump

Decreasing oil prices have left gas prices lower throughout the Coachella Valley and drivers feeling a bit more happy.

Across the nation, people are paying an average of $3.65 a gallon.

Here in the valley, the average is around $3.77.

Some economists say that more good news could be right around the corner, and we may see $3.25 a gallon by next month.

There are already some gas stations in the valley, however, that are close to that price already.

Right now, you can find the lowest prices in the valley at the Pilot on Indian Canyon Drive and Garnet Road in Palm Springs, at $3.45 a gallon.

If you’re more central in the desert, the best bet for your buck is the AM/PM on Portola and Highway 111, which sells gas for $3.48 a gallon.

For all you east valley drivers, the Arco on Grapefruit Blvd. and 48th Avenue is pumping out gas at $3.59 a gallon.

Drivers say they would drive out of their way to a pump to save pennies.

Kyle Miller of Palm Desert says, “I live all the way on Frank Sinatra and Portola, and I drive all the way down here every day to get gas.”

Another driver, John Murphy, says, “I said hey, why should I pay it up in Joshua Tree? I mean they’re 20-cents higher than Yucca Valley, and you go into Thousand Palms, it’s a giant rip off inland. I’d rather dive down here.”

Analysts said the average family will save $120 annually for every ten cents shaved off the price of gas.
