Body Found In Indio Canal Identified As Sacramento-Area Man

Authorities today released the name of a 24-year-old Northern California man found dead in a canal near Highway 111.

Employees from the Coachella Valley Water District working in the All American Canal found the body of Cruz Erik Palomares-Yepez in the canal north of Highway 111 and east of Madison Street on Friday morning, Indio Police Department spokesman Benjamin Guitron said.

The man, who also went by the name Erik Palomares, was from Williams, northwest of Sacramento, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office, which did not release the cause of death.

Anyone with information about Palomares-Yepez’s whereabouts prior to his death was asked to call the Indio police investigators at (760) 391-4057.
