Police Arrest Man Suspected Of Stealing Marijuana

A man was in custody Friday morning, accused of stealing a bad of medical marijuana and trying to hurt the man he stole from.

Desert Hot Springs police Sgt. Brian Link said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Cactus Drive, just north of 2 Bunch Palms Drive.

The victim told officers he went to an home in that area to deliver medical marijuana to a patient.

He said when he arrived Yuriy Abaryants, 24, forcibly took a small bag containing a small quantity of marijuana and tried to beat him.

The victim ran from the home and called police.

Link said DHS police officers and Riverside County sheriff’s deputies made several attempts to contact Abaryants, who refused to come out of his home.

They waited one hour before he walked out without incident.

He was booked into the Riverside Count Correctional facility in Banning and faces possible robbery charges.
