College of the Desert football punished after investigation

The College of the Desert football team received their punishment after the end of a five-month investigation. An article published in the Desert Sun in July prompted a full investigation by the school and by the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) and the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).

The investigation looked into possible recruitment and disciplinary infractions. The investigation found the program guilty of two minor infractions, providing used furniture to athletes as well as providing athletes with rides to the airport. As a result of the findings, the programs faces a two-year probation, as well as a postseason ban for the current 2012 season.
