Update: Marine Killed in Officer Involved Shooting

Investigators are waiting on autopsy results to learn more about the officer involved shooting in Palm Springs.
The coroner’s office has now identified the marine shot early Saturday morning as 22year-old Allan De Villena II.
Police say De Villena refused to turn off his car and was shot, when he tried to drive off, hitting an officer.
De Villena died at the scene. His passenger was arrested. Police say De Villena and the passenger may also be connected to a reported theft that occurred earlier that night. Both officers are on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
Tonight, Palm Springs Mayor, Steve Pougnet issued this statement:
“The City of Palm Springs is deeply saddened by the loss of United States Marine Cpl. Allan De Villena.
