Police looking for purse snatcher

Police are on the lookout for a purse snatcher in Palm Springs.

An off duty CHP officer and his wife were dining outside at the Chop House on the 200 block of South Palm Canyon Drive just after eight last night.

The officer’s wife had her purse on the table when a man grabbed the bag and took off.

The CHP officer went after him while calling 911, but later lost him.

Police followed several leads and set up a perimeter in the 300 block of South Calle El Segundo.

Officers later found the purse and the contents in the courtyard of a nearby apartment complex.

A search for the man came up empty.

He’s described as a tall white man, last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
