Kathy De Rosa Takes Lead In Cathedral City Mayor Race

Kathy De Rosa takes lead in race to keep her seat as Mayor of Cathedral City by 9 votes. The Riverside County Registrar released updated numbers late Wednesday Evening.

De Rosa had been trailing her challenger Chip Yarborough in the November 6th election. The tally on Monday night saw her climb within 12 votes of Yarborough. De Rosa now has 5,722 votes and Yarborough is trailing with 5,713 votes.

In the race for Palm Desert Council Susan Marie Webber is still leading incumbent Bill Kroonen. Webber has 6,149 votes and Kroonen trails with 6,107 votes.

The Registrar stated on the election website that there are approximately 5,000 provisional ballots that remain to be processed. Those ballots require even more extensive research than other provisional ballots because they involve voters who went to an incorrect polling place or whose address changed.

Work on these ballots will continue over the weekend. Final certified election results will be released Monday at 6 p.m.
