Crystal Cathedral founder to be paid less than $1M

The chief executive of the Crystal Cathedral says he has enough money to move on with his ministry after a long and difficult bankruptcy proceeding. John Charles said Monday’s ruling will allow the ministry to continue. Founder Rev. Robert H. Schuller and his family will be paid less than $1 million from the bankruptcy of his former ministry. The family had claimed they were owed millions, but Judge Robert N. Kwan ruled differently. Charles said Monday the ministry loves the Schullers and wishes them well. The ruling allows the cathedral’s remaining creditors to collect on more than $12 million they are owed. The Diocese of Orange bought the cathedral in bankruptcy court last year for nearly $58 million and has renamed it Christ Cathedral.
