Police arrest sisters in connection to thefts in Cabazon outlets

Maria Aguilar, 27, and her 15 year-old sister were arrested on Friday after a victim called police to report a theft at the Desert Hills Premium outlets in Cabazon.

The victim told police the suspects broke into a vehicle and stole items inside the car before taking off in a black Porsche.

Police tracked down the suspect vehicle and found more than $1500 worth of items inside the car, including designer purses, jewelry, cellphones and an iPod. The suspects also allegedly stole both foreign and domestic currency.

Aguilar was booked into the county jail in Banning and her sister at Riverside juvenile hall.

The sheriff’s department says its seen a rise in car burglaries in recent months at the Cabazon outlets with property losses at more than $100,000.
