La Quinta High School student facing drug charges

A local high school student is under arrest today after carrying illegal drugs on campus.

A police officer suffered minor injuries after confronting the student at Summit Continuation School in La Quinta.

The officer confronted the student after finding illegal drugs in his backpack. The student took off but the officer was able to catch up to him and that’s when the fight started.

The officer was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The student was taken to juvenile hall and is now facing charges.
