Authorities arrest teen accused in threat against Yucca Valley HS students
San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies arrested a teenager Tuesday accused of posting threats against Yucca Valley high school via a social media network.
The 14 year-old was booked into Juvenile Hall in San Bernardino on Tuesday.
The alleged threat was posted on a social networking site just days after the Newton, Conn., school shootings. Investigators said the posting included photographs of students at Yucca Valley high school.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with the San Bernardino County Probation Department, and the Morongo Basin Unified School District said it investigated several incidents involving students and rumored violence at schools in the Morongo Basin Unified School District.
During the last days of school before their winter break, investigators said several rumors of school violence circulated via social media networks among students and parents in the Morongo Basin.
A sheriffs statement said the case involving the 14-year-old is currently being investigated and there does not appear to be a credible threat to any schools in the district.
For precautionary measures, deputies have been conducting additional patrols in and around all schools in the Morongo Basin and will continue to do so.
